Queen is one of our amazing teachers in our Live Free Trainings Yoga Teacher Training. I'm so grateful she offers her gifts and perspective. I highly recommend this retreat! I'm all registered and hope to see you there!
In 2023 , I wrote in my journal:
Need: Rest.
Want: one-year sabbatical from work.
At the time, I was stretched thin — managing a full-time job, navigating sickness from fibroids, and pouring every bit of extra energy into building Sacred Spaces Yoga. I was tired in a way sleep couldn’t fix. My body was speaking, but I kept pushing through, convinced that rest was something I’d make time for later.
When I underwent major surgery in 2024, I thought rest would mean letting my body heal while I caught up on everything else — the to-do lists, the new ideas, the plans waiting in notebooks. I created a post-surgery task list ya'll. Don't judge me. Ok maybe judge me a little because how ridiculous is that!
But God had other plans.
That season revealed that my whole being needed rest. In those quiet, unhurried days, I experienced rest beyond the physical — a kind of soul healing that reshaped how I viewed God, my work, and my worth.
I began to see how even forced pauses can be divine preparation. How God answers prayers in ways we rarely imagine, not always by changing our circumstances, but by changing our capacity to be present in them.
When I returned to work and creative projects, I carried a new mindset.
Rest was no longer something to escape into — it was something I curated throughout my day. I took breaks on purpose and I learned to set boundaries that honored my energy.
Despite my new revelation regarding rest, I still held on to that 2023 prayer.
I believed and continued to pray that one day I’d experience a full season of rest. Specifically in the form of a one-year sabbatical from my job. Because I was taught to pray SPECIFIC prayers!
And in May 2025, that prayer was answered in a way I couldn’t have planned. After ten years at my job, I was offered the opportunity to take a Voluntary Resignation package — a release I didn’t expect but instantly recognized as divine timing.
Today I am currently living in an answered prayer.
From that truth came Living in Amen — a Sacred Virtual Retreat centered on remembrance, receiving, and rejoicing.
Living in Amen was created for those who find themselves standing in the middle of what they once prayed for, yet rarely take the time to pause and recognize it. It’s for those who feel the pull between gratitude and striving, peace and productivity — longing to live from a slower, steadier place of trust.
During this two-hour retreat, we’ll gather virtually to breathe, move, and reflect through guided yoga, meditation, journaling, community share, and a creative expression practice of awareness and praise.
Each moment is designed to bring you home to stillness — to help you see that Amen isn’t just the ending of a prayer, but the living proof of one.
